Watch today’s show at YouTube.
Please write a comment on today’s video at YouTube! Tell me where you are from – it would be so interesting to see where everyone is from. Thank you : )
Hi, I’m Sarah, welcome to The Daily English Show.
Recently several different people that I’ve met have asked me about who watches The Daily English Show.
I have a bit of an idea from emails and comments I know that there are people watching in the United States, Japan, Germany, Argentina, (the) Philippines.
But it would be nice to have more of an idea. So, I have a request. Can you please go to YouTube – if you’re not already watching this at YouTube – because YouTube is pretty much the only place where people really leave comments. And I’d like you to leave a comment saying where you are from and where you are now – if it’s different than where you’re from. And also if you could tell me what your native language is – that would be interesting too.
Most people who watch The Daily English Show don’t usually leave comments – which is fine – but just this once it would be really interesting to read a lot of comments and just see where everyone is from.
Kia Ora, this is Stick News. Tomorrow the first female president of India will be sworn in.
India is the second most populous country, and the most populous liberal democracy in the world.
Since 1950 India has had a president. The new president is the fifteenth president of India.
She trained as a lawyer and got into politics when she was 27. She’s now 72.
According to Wikipedia the President’s role is largely ceremonial. And the powers of the President of India are comparable to those of the monarch of the United Kingdom.
And that was Stick News for Tuesday the 24th of July.

#273 Have you been swimming much in Canada?
Step 1: Repeat Marie’s lines.
Step 2: Read Marie’s lines and talk to Sarah.
Marie Have you been swimming much in Canada?
Sarah Yeah, we’ve been down to the river a couple of times.
Marie How far away is the river?
Sarah Oh, it’s really close. It only takes about 15 minutes to walk down there.
Marie Is it cold?
Sarah Yeah … but it’s nice. It’s refreshing.
Marie Do many people swim in the river?
Sarah Where we go it’s pretty much a private beach so there’s always only us there.
Sarah Yeah. It’s very cool. Actually today we saw some people go past wakeboarding too.
Marie Wakeboarding? What’s that?
Sarah It’s like waterskiing but on a board.
