Hi, I’m Sarah. Welcome to The Daily English Show.
Today’s guest is Rick from China. Rick is studying English here at Acadia. And one of the things I asked him was why he chose to study in Canada.
At the beginning my parents decide to let me go abroad to study. The, the agent gave my parents three, three choice. One is British, Australia and Canada. And my parents think Canada may be good, better than the other two countries. So, prefer Canada, yeah.
Kia Ora this is Stick News. Today Japan began privatizing the postal service. The process will take ten years.
The postal service in Japan is called (日本郵政公社, Nippon Yūsei Kōsha) or Japan Post in English.
Japan Post offers postal and package delivery services, banking services, and life insurance.
Wikipedia says Japan Post runs the world’s largest postal savings system, has over 400,000 employees and runs 24,700 post offices throughout Japan.
Japan Post is now being privatized. The privatization process began today with step one – reorganizing Japan Post into four businesses under a holding company. The four firms provide banking, insurance, mail delivery and over-the-counter services.
The government is still involved the group. It now owns a 100% stake in Japan Post Holdings Co but over the next ten years will be selling a portion of the shares to the public.
And that was Stick News for Monday the 1st of October.
